Shop Assistant

Location: Plymouth, MI

Are you someone who is self-motivated, mechanically inclined, and who enjoys working in shop and warehouse environment around tools, equipment, and trucks? If so, we have a great opportunity available for a Shop Assistant to join our team in Plymouth, MI. What You Will Do:

Reporting to the Fleet Manager, you will be responsible for maintaining shop and service operations by ensuring the shop environment is safe, clean, and organized, and that all equipment and vehicles are properly maintained.

  • Maintain the shop in an orderly fashion – clean, organize parts and inventory, sweep, etc.
  • Review work orders and obtain the necessary parts
  • Pull materials for field crews
  • Run shop-related errands such as picking up parts and supplies
  • Ensure that all equipment and company vehicles are clean and ready as needed
  • Handle shipping and receiving, sorting, and organizing of parts
  • Perform general repairs and cleaning of the facilities
  • Local pick-up and delivery of vehicles, material, parts and equipment
  • Assist managers and crews as needed
  • Perform miscellaneous related duties and carry out special projects as assigned

  • Have a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Have a valid driver's license with a clean MVR record; chauffer's license is preferred, or must be willing and able to attain one within 60 days of employment
  • Are willing to undergo a background check, MVR check, and drug screen
  • Are motivated and someone who takes initiative
  • Experience working in a shop warehouse environment
  • General knowledge of construction and shop warehouse safety
  • Have strong organizational skills
  • Commit to wearing required personal protective equipment, such as gloves, safety glasses and steel toe shoes
  • Are able to safely operate and drive a variety of vehicles as needed
  • Are able to multitask and effectively prioritize requests
  • Are able to effectively communicate with all employees, vendors, customers
  • Can safely lift up to 50 lbs
  • Are able to climb ladders, bend, stand, and stretch for extended periods of time
